Maserati Club Annual Picnic and Concours d'Elegance

There is nothing like a great day at Vaucluse House! All members and guests are invited to join us at our annual Picnic and Concourse d ‘ Elegance at Vaucluse House, Wentworth Road, Vaucluse.

The entry is off Olola Ave, Vaucluse, turn right off Wentworth Rd (the normal entrance of Vaucluse House).

Meeting at 9.30 am at the Carriage House, which is at the rear of Vaucluse House, for a photo shoot and get together, so be on time as we set the stage for a great family day! We have about 45 minutes to undertake a photo shoot before moving to the Western Paddock.

2017 saw a great record number of cars turnout for our Concours event, with Club Maserati owners going to great effort to show their cars , as the photo shoot at the Carriage House captures the essence of a masterpiece of class and engineering - not many other marques can match the style of a Maserati that has developed over many years.

Spruce up your car, the stage is set for another memorable day with an early morning shower of sun light – great for the keen enthusiast and their digital camera, capturing each masterpiece of engineering and body design.

Every year this classic event for our club gets even better, and is now one of the flagship events of the year. Don’t leave your masterpiece in the garage or under a cover, show it off, as for many of our members, this is one day when the cars get the spotlight, give it a polish and buff to display in all its glory.

Concours 2017 winner - Maserati Sebring 1965
In recent years we have been getting more serious with judging both old and new cars, although it is a picnic day, the competition to show the sleek and the racy lines of your Maserati is heating up! Last year was no exception, with Richard Freemantle’s 1965 Maserati Sebring the winner on the day, with a stunning car.

The judges are looking for originality, each car is marked out of 100 points and points are taken off for various marks, none genuine parts, although every car is looked at from an elegance perspective.

Some owners use their cars as the daily drive, when they turn up with 60-100k plus on them, you can see the passion that they have put into their masterpiece with many not having a mark on them. A number of cars with over 100,000 kms on them, still look like they have come straight from the showroom floor, the owners are that passionate about their cars.

Over the years we have seen cars that you could honestly say could be in a Museum, but that’s not what our Concourse day is about, it’s all about showing the passion for something you drive and love.

Within the club we are raising the standard of judging to the level of ICJAG that a number of members are now involved with, Todd Gilmour and Don Crutchley. If anyone wants a car that is greater than 30 years old judged to ICJAG standard, we welcome it. Please let us know before the day so we can allocate the time. In this class we are focused on originality and preservation so future generations may enjoy the Maserati.

The Concourse is open to all Club Maserati owners, if you have a car that has been hiding in a garage or under a cover, get it out, and let our members see something they may have not seen before.

We have a small $20 entry fee per car to helps us defray the $800 cost of hiring the paddock for the day.
