8CM

The 8CM was an evolution of the 8C and was masterminded by Ernesto Maserati after Alfieri's death. Alfieri had designed new motors and hydraulics that were put into the 8CM as they weren't ready for the 8C. Eighteen 8CMs were built, mostly going to privateer racers - a good money spinner for Maserati.

The 8CM had a revised 8 cylinder motor pushing out 280hp and was "enhanced" by Tazio Nuvolari who added extra cross members to stiffen the car. Although it added weight, it also made the car into a winner, beating much larger factory racing teams and allowing the privateers to compete.
